A New Chapter. Two months had passed. Katelyn did nothing but read manga or use the computer all day long. Katelyn woke up early, she fixed herself, then entered her bus. The two or more months she stayed at home felt like years. She was bored, every single day. Plus her sister Kaye who graduated college as a nurse, started having her review for the upcoming board exams. Katelyn barely saw her at home.
Katelyn, had a busmate named Jessica. A sophomore. She sat beside Katelyn in the bus. They chatted. Katelyn talked about how excited and nervous she was. Well, entering High School, for Katelyn felt like starting over, living a new life. Some things, or possibly everything would change.
Jessica, walked with her. They walked down the catwalk. The new building, felt so different. Katelyn maybe would need some time to get use to it.
They climbed up the stairs, at the second floor, there's another set of stairs leading to the second and a half floor. Jessica brought Katelyn to her section. Class I-A. The star as they call it. She dropped her things and then next went with Jessica to her classroom.
They walked non-stop, until Katelyn saw Cassidy.
"Finally." she murmured. She asked Jessica if she could get excused or something. It wasn't hard, Jessica was talking to her friend.
"Hey, so.. what's up?" Cassidy greeted her.
"Nothing much." Katelyn replied with a smile. The two girls were squealing and talking about how excited they were. Aside from all the excitement, Cassidy told her a sad news. Turns out, she almost didn't make it on the first day of school. She just came back home from her grandfather's funeral.
The high school students were asked to leave their bags and proceed to the assembly area. Cassidy and Katelyn stayed together.
That's when Katelyn saw Doyle.
"Hey C, I thought Doyle transferred to Millerstone Academy?""Oh. I guess we'll be seeing him for another year then." was all Cassidy said. Once the ceremony finished. Everyone went back to their classroom and then down again for the seminar.
The whole day ended with that. Just a seminar. Nothing much for the first day of High school.

Sorry. Again. It was the summer vacation. Soon, Katelyn would be in her first year of High School. She currently got addicted to some shows and reading manga. Staying up late just to read them.
One morning, she went online. She asked Margie Herring for help.
KFields: Margie, I need your help.
MargieHerring: What is it?
KFields: I don't know. but I don't feel the same about Mason. Like having some vacation without him feels like, some time to breathe.
MargieHerring: Then what are you planning to do?
KFields: Well, I need help to tell him. I can't do it alone. I've hurt him before.
MargieHerring: Then we'll have a conference.
Mason Lawrence has signed in.MargieHerring: You ready?
KFields: Guess so.
Margie Herring has invited you to a conference. MargieHerring: So..
MasonLawrence: ???
MargieHerring: Katelyn, tell him.
KFields: Uhmm.. Mason.. I'm sorry.
MasonLawrence: You don't like me anymore?
KFields: Sorry.
--------
MasonLawrence: Is there someone new?
KFields: No.
MasonLawrence: Then why?
KFields: I don't feel the same way. Sorry.
--------
The day passed normally. Katelyn read manga but still thought how unfair she was to Mason. But it was better to tell it to him than pretend and lie to him since he would find out sooner or later right?
Katelyn didn't become his girlfriend. That's one thing a lot of people ask. But with the MU stuff, she never actually became free. Mason gets easily jealous. Even with Benny, Katelyn's best friend. With Doyle. With Matt, his best friend. With Evan. Who's next?
Katelyn does admit that she gets jealous too. With Kimberleigh.
On that night. Katelyn was reading some manga online when the phone rang.
"Hello?" "Hello." A deep voice answered. It was obviously Mason.
"Why?" Katelyn asked.
"What's wrong? Tell me. Why? Is there someone new?-" He wasn't finished yet, he obviously has a lot of questions in his mind.
"Sorry. No. There's no one new. I just don't feel the same. I don't know. I have to go. I'm really sorry." "Just remember, I love you." And they hung up.
Summer. Changes a lot of things. Ends things. Starts things. What else would happen?
Graduation. It was early in the morning. Katelyn woke up at around 5:30 am. The commencement won't start until 8am. Katelyn asked her sister to hurry up which annoyed her Kaye. Their parents called just when they were fighting. They asked them to stop it. Especially that it's a special occassion and all.
Actually, having the fight with Kaye didn't bother Katelyn. It was the fact that her parents won't be with her on that special day that actually made her feel like it didn't matter at all. When would her parents actually be there in a memorable and special occasion of her life?
Her cousin fetched them and drove them down to Hillsdale.
Her sister paid for the photo services. Then went to the gymnasium.
Katelyn on the other hand went to the assembly area. She saw her classmates, took pictures with them. She would miss everything. Staying in the grade school building, their teachers, some classmates, the subjects everything. Realizing that she's spending the last minutes of her grade school life, she made the most of it. Talking to everyone, laughing.
She talked most especially to Benny, Cassidy, Halley. They talked about what Cassidy would do.
"My parents asked me to choose. Which one of them would stay for me to stay here." She said.
"It's hard. Choosing one might make them feel bad or something." They finished talking. Then they lined up. The ceremony's about to start.
They one by one walked down the red carpet. Katelyn then went to her seat. Beside Tricia.
The ceremony passed. Her sister, Kaye, went up the stage with her. The batch sang Thanks to You. Then for the last song, Farewell. Katelyn shed a tear or two. It is, truly the end of her grade school days. People would leave. Things would change.
"Goodbye and thank you grade 6, for the last time." Ms. Norbury said.
"Goodbye and thank you for the last time Ms. Norbury." They greeted goodbye.
Katelyn was fetched by her sister. They went directly to the car. No time for more chit chats. Then she actually slept at home.
When she woke up, she got ready to go to the mall and ocean park.
She came with her sister and her sister's boyfriend. Without her parents but still she wanted to have fun.
They ate at the mall. Then went to the ocean park.
They got three tickets. 0002-00025640, 0002-00025641, 0002-00025642. Were their ticket numbers. Katelyn got the 2nd one. They joined the line. Took pictures.
They had a tour. Still took pictures.
It was night time. They were about to go. They were walking and taking pictures when Kaye took the camera. And, goodbye pictures. they were all deleted.
They laughed about it at least. They had pictures in their cellphones.

Bequeathal. It was almost dark when Katelyn left her house. She came to school for this night's event wearing a simple gray jacket, skinny jeans and flats.
She arrived at the school holding her ticket.
She joined the long line bringing some memories on how the past bequeathal sucked.
She saw the grade five students wearing semi-formal clothes. Like the girls were wearing dresses. Louie, a grade 5 student approached her, they talked for a while.
Katelyn went to Halley. This year would be a nice one. She hoped. Not only for her but for her friends as well. For Cassidy, she would be with Matt. At last, his work finally paid off. After waiting for so long, she finally became his girlfriend.
For Benny, at least he has the guts to ask Halley.
The students were asked to form their lines by sections. Katelyn started getting worried. Mason still wasn't around. What if he doesn't show up? What if he uses this chance as revenge for what Katelyn did last bequeathal?
She asked Halley, if she saw him. But Halley said no. The different colors of light made Katelyn feel a little dizzy.
The opening ceremony ended. Then he came. Wearing a black jacket. His friends took him away and made him fix his hair. The way it was when he had his graduation picture taken.
He came to her. They walked, talked and saw different couples. Like their friends Margie Herring and Oliver Johnson. Margie finally had her chance with Oliver. She liked him ever since grade 2. And now, they were finally together. Unfortunately, they would be seperated for High School. Maybe some Long Distance Relationship would work?
Katelyn and Mason went to get some food. After eating, they went outside the classroom.
It was the first slow dance.
Katelyn and Mason danced. Not only one song but all the songs. Iris, Only Reminds Me of You, I'll be, and more. Then he was fetched. Katelyn said goodbye.
Then she danced with Tricia. They were getting close again. They danced Sway. Beside them, were Cassidy and Karen Smith danced as well.
Mason, actually came back. Like he didn't want to leave. Katelyn felt the same. Not wanting the night to end. Like it was a very problem- free night. But everything has its end. Even a beautiful night. Nothing lasts forever. Forever is a lie. Everything is transitory.

Out of School Competition.Katelyn went to scool early. Bringing her costume for the contest. They practiced and practiced. The teachers placed make up on their faces. For the past month, Katelyn had grown close with the grade 5 students because of the contest.
The school entered them in a competition between private schools. Representatives from the fifth and sixth grade were grouped together to recite a piece altogether. They had to memorize it, place actions, let some people act in front. As for Katelyn she's part of those people chosen to act in front.
After everything, they rode two seperate cars.
They reached the venue and saw other students from different schools. They sat outside the auditorium and did some other preparations. It was almost lunch, they ordered food from the nearby restaurant.
They continued preparing. They placed powder on Matt's hair. He would act as Katelyn's father who would get mad and send her away. The rest placed black inks on their body to look like street children.
The contestants and their teachers with them entered the auditorium.
Hillsdale was thought to be the 8th performer but was changed.
Katelyn while waiting passed notes with her classmates. She checked her bag for her ballpen and found out that her red ballpen's ink spilled.
Halley had a good idea and tld her to use the ink as props. She placed red ink on Katelyn's wrist to make her look like she slit her wrist. Well, in the story, her role actually would.
Time for their performance.
They climbed up the stage and started. Katelyn stayed at the back, waiting for her turn to stay in front.
When she did, she exchanged lines with Matt. Then he pushed her. Katelyn fell, he pushed her hard but well, it was part of their act. The stage was made up of wood and it acually made a sound from the impact of Katelyn's fall. The audience reacted and whispered to each other.
Later on there's this scene with drunken guys. They pulled Katelyn and one pushed her. She fell. Now harder than the first. It actually made her hip hurt. Imagine falling hard on the tiled floor.
Then there goes the part where she slit her wrist.
The performance finished. It turned out great. But still wasn't the best among all. They lost. But it was fun. All those times of practicing. Commuting to classmates' houses.
They went back to their school. Katelyn still wearing her costume went to their classroom. Then she saw Doyle and she went to her training.
Doyle started training her for the upcoming basketball competition. Being part of the varsity, he's a good teacher. Katelyn learned how to shoot, dribble and pass the ball. She trained together with Halley.
She played with Matt, Evan and Mason on that day. It was hard, wearing flip flops.
Her day actually turned out great.
Dance Invitation.Katelyn woke up at around 5:30 in the morning. It was the 7th day of the month of December. The second day after the Warcraft issue.
Katelyn went to school. Her eyes were aching. She kept on crying the day before.
Classes went the usual way.
Recess time. The boys, namely Patrick, Matt, Evan and Mason had a jamming session. It was the usual thing. Every Friday, you would hear sounds from the electric guitars or acoustic guitars playing along the fourth floor corridors.
Katelyn stayed with Halley and Benny. They chatted until, someone played A Little Less Than Sixteen Candles A Little More Touch Me by Fall Out Boy.
"Halley, who's playing that?" "Mason."Katelyn started singing along. She loved the song.
"Hey guys! You have a new vocalist!" Halley joked. Katelyn stopped. She actually felt embarassed after hearing the boys stop.
They had the Religion class. Benny sat beside Katelyn. Benny did nothing but tease Katelyn about Mason.
"I told Mason to play A Little Less for you." Katelyn ignored what Benny said. Besides, why would he play something for her.
After Religion, Benny walked towards Mason. He went back to Katelyn saying
"Mason's mad. He said that I was making him jealous." Badminton time. Instead of playing, Katelyn excused herself from the club activities to sell some products she made for T.L.E. Together with Alison, she roamed around the school holding the beaded bracelets. She went to the badminton hall. Mason's club actually stays there. When the two girls left the place
"Katelyn, Mason was lookin a while ago." Alison said.
Dismissal time. Luckily, Katelyn's group finished selling all their bracelets. Sarah Aberdeen, Katelyn's classmates last fourth and fifth grade came to her.
"Is it true? Did you really get caught?" Katelyn ignored the question. Instead came to Mason. He was the only one there who's involve in the 'event'
Katelyn realized that soon, Mason would go to his extracurricular activity. Namely the Science Wizards.
"You have to go to Science Wizards right?" Mason nodded.
"uhmm. See you then." Mason finally said and then left.
Katelyn left. Then Erik Olssen, their class president, approached her.
"If Mason asks you to dance for the bequeathal, would you say yes?" "Why?" Erik left.
Mason then asked her personally. Still she asked why.
"I want to dance with you because I like you." Katelyn confessed her feelings as well. She nodded as a sign that she would dance with him. Ms. Norbury came and called him.
After the Science Wizards they talked. Katelyn discovered a lot of things. Like what happened last Valentines day.
Katelyn found a rose on top of her desk after recess. Then when she needed to take a book from her bag, she saw a blue magic plastic. When she came home, she saw the writing.
"The most precious things can neither be seen nor touched but felt in our hearts." Funny thing is, there was a receipt. Katelyn couldn't help laughing that day.
Mason at first didn't remember that he was the one who gave Katelyn. Katelyn asked Mason to accept her add request in Y!M.
When she came home. She went online. Around 6pm, someone accepted her request. Mason.

"You're Supposed to Be My Best Friend."
When People say it's Christmas, you would usually think about gifts. Receiving. But maybe for Katelyn, Giving is really better than to receive. Even if a lot of pain comes with it.
It was a normal Wednesday morning. The students had an assembly. The Sub- Unit Head organizing a 'Pet Talk' with the grade six students at around 2:30 pm.
Classes had gone as usual. Recess time. Halley came to Katelyn, convincing her to come with the group later on that day. Katelyn knew the reason, it was for her to at least try playing Warcraft.
Katelyn said no. Halley came rushing out the door and entered through the other one. Coming directly to Doyle. And. Screaming
"Doyle! Katelyn's coming!" Doyle sure became happy. A new possible member for their group. Katelyn then didn't have the chance to well, decline. Trying it once won't hurt right? she thought.
Tricia on the other hand, ate lunch with her. Like what she normally does. Then Katelyn would go buy food. For her and for Tricia. It had been their agreement that Katelyn would treat Tricia if she would go with her and buy lunch. Tricia tried changing Katelyn's mind. Telling her she might get caught. Katelyn told her she'll just try. Once. That's it.
2:30pm. The students. Grade 6 students lined up outside their classrooms and proceeded to the Big AVR. Their Sub-unit head teacher discussing their usual violations in the school regulations. It took an hour for her to actually finish. An hour which felt like years. So boring. Katelyn actually felt like sleeping.
3:30pm. The grade 6 students were dismissed. Katelyn bid goodbye to Tricia. She went with Halley to Doyle's school bus. There, Doyle collected money. From Katelyn, Halley, Matt, Patrick, Mason, and Evan. After collecting money amounting to 140. Doyle talked to his bus driver. Telling him he would go to some tutorial like place. Together with his six friends.
Before they even entered the bus, they bought drinks. Alison Quentin, Kimberleigh and Anna came to them and asked where they were going. Well, they told the truth. Trusting their classmates. They rode the bus. As the bus left the school grounds, Katelyn sat beside Halley.
The bus stopped right in front of the center. Katelyn asked Halley to try holding her hand.
"It's cold-" then touched the softrdink Katelyn held on her other hand.
"Colder than the drink." Katelyn usually had cold hands when she's about to experience something bad.
She felt so nervous. Like her legs were somewhat wobbly as she stepped forward to the shop just above the center. They all went inside. Doyle, entered first and immediately said
"Exact. 7!" Katelyn saw that there were only 7 computers left. Exact for them. Doyle gave the money he collected to a girl. Katelyn sat between Doyle and Halley. Doyle was going to teach her. He gave her the codename Xangel_kissX. The battle started.
Katelyn kept on dying. Not actually knowing what's happening. Plus. Mason kept on killing her.
Ten minutes or so. Halley whispered something to Katelyn. Tried not to make her voice sound worried and panicky but she obviously was
"Katelyn, Ms. Norbury's there with the SUH." Katelyn said the same to Doyle. Until everyone knew and they actually looked at their adviser.
Ms. Norbury asked them to move out of the computer shop. They did and sat at the bench found outside. Katelyn started crying. Even Halley. They are girls after all. Even though the boys were able to keep their composure, the two girls couldn't they just had to cry it out.
Their teacher talked to them. Halley on the other hand apologized to Katelyn.
"Sorry. It's my fault. I shouldn't have forced you." Her eyes easily turned red. Katelyn, crying as well told her
"It's not your fault."They rode a tricycle. Then went to the benches near the trees. Their adviser Ms. Norbury talked to them. Katelyn sat beside Halley. On her other side Mason. Ms. Norbury asked for a diary. Katelyn volunteered to get hers. But because of everything that's happening actually broke the cover.
When she came back, the teacher took the diary and flipped the pages. She looked for the rules. Found the 7 kids' violation. She talked some sense into them.
"Do you guys know what would happen? You Matt, Mason, Halley. You'll be out of the honor students. You'll be graduating. You Patrick, your application for your school of choice might be affected. As for you Doyle, you might get kicked out of being a varsity player." Katelyn didn't know what to feel. Beside her Halley sat, blaming herself. Thinking about Katelyn when she should be thinking about her parents' reactions. Katelyn had nothing to lose. For now.
Katelyn continued crying. When someone told her "
Stop crying" Katelyn felt irritated knowing who said that she turned her head towards him
"Why do you even care?" Then faced Ms. Norbury again. Mason didn't say a word after that.
Doyle and Patrick both stood up and went to Ms. Norbury asking if they could take all the punishments since they started it. But the teacher said, everyone had an offense. Wearing their uniforms. Even if it is someone's first time, they still disobeyed a rule. Everyone needs to face the consequences of their actions.
The students were called inside the SUH's office. Ms. Norbury came too. The teacher talked about the offense and the possible people she might contact to inform the sad news. As for Katelyn, her sister, Kaye. Speaking of that, how could she inform her parents?
The SUH asked them to write an essay narrating what happened.
Katelyn didn't actually understand the instructions. Thinking about things. Like how her friends were willing to take the punishment. How they're blaming themselves. So she asked the person next to her. Who happens to be Mason. That's when he told her
"I came because you came" "why?" "Because.. It might be fun to have a new player in the group."Now, not only did Katelyn feel so bad that Halley's blaming herself. She felt worse hearing that Mason got into this mess because of her.
During the whole conversation with the SUH. Doyle actually blurted out that he thinks it's Tricia's doing. Telling their plan to the teachers. Katelyn and Kalley immediately opposed.
"Tricia won't ever do that. She's so kind."The teachers promised to keep it confidential among the students. So to do that, they sent the seven kids out the office one by one. Katelyn was the second to the last. Last was Mason.
Katelyn saw Eric Lyndon. He said
"It was Tricia." Okay. That confirms it all. It was Tricia's doing.
Katelyn snapped. Falling onto the ground. Kneeling. Crying harder. She didn't actually mind that she was there at like, the middle of the place. Kneeling on a rocky surface and crying. Halley held her hand. Mason did too. They both helped her get up. Katelyn couldn't get up, or better yet, didn't want to stand up. Her supposedly best friend, betraying her?
She looked at the office. And unfortunately saw Tricia. That's some torturing she's been experiencing.
She came to her school bus. Still crying. But just stared out the window.
She came home. Went straight to her room. She looked at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were red. From crying.
The phone rang. She answered it.
"Hello." Katelyn said. Her voice a little shaky from crying.
"Hello." Tricia said on the other line, her voice sent chills down Katelyn's spine.
"Hello? Katelyn? I'm so sorry. I just had to do that. Because God didn't want you to do that again." Hearing this made tears start falling down Katelyn's cheeks.
"Don't include God's name here." Katelyn said, raising her pitch high.
"They would actually lose something. What they worked hard for!" "But, I couldn't help it. You joined them." "And so, you mean to say it's my fault now? I can't believe I actually never thought about you doing this. You're supposed to be my best friend. Why would you do this?" "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I was just worried." They ended the conversation there.
Katelyn continued crying non- stop. Which made her eyes look like they were bleeding. Being red and all. She went online and, Nigel Ashcroft, Halley's crush im-ed her.
NigelAshcroft: is it true you got caught?
Wow. Even someone from a different section knew.
KFields: Halley.
HalleyBrandon: Hey. I'm sorry.
KFields: It's not your fault.
They chatted. Until Katelyn received a text message. From Alison. Rumored to have told the teachers about Katelyn and the others.
",katelyn, sorry, just ask doyle about what i did. i didn't tell. i'm sorry about what happened. hope you forgive me. don't worry, i'll talk to ms. norbury. i'll try my best. sorry. i know that you don't have a best friend anymore, even though you don't treat me like how you treat tricia, i know you'll do everything not to put her in danger. i just wanted to say sorry. maybe, tricia did something very horrible but i know you're kind. just follow your heart. i'm really sorry. btw, what about our tle? tricia can't do it. she's been crying since a while ago. anyway, if you don't reply, its okay. i just want you to know that i'm sorry and goodluck tomorrow."
Katelyn didn't know what to do about the next day she'll have to go to school. Face her classmates and her friends. The other six who practically got into this mess because of her. Especially Tricia, who happened to be the person she thought was her best friend. Someone she could count on and trust.
Maybe trusting people is just not always good. Trust could break you into many pieces.
